Tournament  2006 July 12th 2006 : Ormskirk Comrades Club The much anticipated 3rd Magic Tournament saw Simon Gray as the defending champion and Mark Berkley who missed 2005 returning to action. Luke Greensmith also had much to say, vowing that last year was a fluke and that this time he would have success. James Fawcett however was the hot tip to claim victory this year.... First Round (Singles) The first round saw one on one games, with a point being awarded for each win. Mike Brandon & Andy Townley impressed most, with both only losing one of their first round games. Simon Gray and James Fawcett were also up there with both winning the bulk of their clashes. The original OGC Magic Champion only faired for a 50/50 split however and needed to pull something off in the multi-player round. Monovie Asita struggled massively, failing to replicate the success that saw him reach 3rd place last year, managing himself a Magic Duck this time around. Wins highlighted in red indicate victories with no life conceded Second Round (Multiplayer) The final round is a multi-player, with players seated at random and attacking to the left with a spell range of 2. Points are awarded for the top five finishers with 5 points going to the player who wins the game, descending to a single point to the player who finishes 5th. Half a point is also awarded for each kill made. Second Round results 1 – Monovie Asita [no kills] 5 points 2 – Mike Brandon [killed Fawcett & Townley] 4+1 points 3 – James Fawcett [killed Berkley, Harness & Gray] 3+1.5 points 4 – Andrew Townley  2 points 5 – Mark Berkley 1 point 6 – Simon Gray [killed Greensmith] +.5 points 7 – Tim Harness 8 – Luke Greensmith note James Brown sat this game out Monovie had pulled off another, complacent high flying multi-player finish, boring his way to victory. The most crucial part was Mike Brandon pipping James Fawcett at the last minute and what was an exceptionally close finale. Things looked certain for Fawcett to win, but with the Monovie roadblock, Mike was able to ground him down and sneak a Tournament victory!
