Captains Log - 020206
New year, new log, so to speak. Of course its not New year really, instead
it’s the freezing cold climes of February. Despite the cold things have been
‘heating up’ in the 40k side of things, the event we held in winter brought
much games and a few new players, and the games haven’t fizzled out quite
as I’d expect them too, the momentum is still going! I’ve now got together
an entire company of Guardsmen, which despite manic painting, from an all new venture for me. James
Brown has also got together his Sisters of Battle force, although there still untested. I anticipate them
eagerly, a Rhino heading towards their lines before suddenly going backwards to the tune of ‘Nuns?
Reverse! Reverse!’ seems in order. So n the gaming front all is looking good and big cheers to all those
who’ve played in recent months, yes the Tournament is just 4-5 months away!!!
Now I’ve not been able to keep up to date with all the OGC work recently due to the demands of my
final degree year, work and my newfound drive to be president of Liverpool Students Union but I’ve
still managed to forge some new contacts. In particular, thanks to Simon for the consultation in testing
the Tau CODEX with another group, and also another gaming group has approached asking for
assistance testing rules to make a combined 2nd edition version of Imperial Armour, which I’m sure
some of our good people will oblige. I’ve also been onto GCN again and its still swings and
roundabouts, all we want is some recognition for our efforts damn it! But their regional officers are
friendly enough so hopefully we can invite one of them to an event some time.
Scenery! Somehow the scenery wars got started again and Simon has
been producing some pretty decent stuff, pictured to the right, also James
Brown (our current 40k champion remember!) has created some urban
terrain, although I did accidentally crush on of those pieces during a
painting session over in Aigburth, Liverpool a few weeks ago :/.
Now is also the time to talk about Merchandise! The 2006 range is
currently being developed by Ugly Duckling Company and should be
available in just over a fortnight, includes t-shirts in a range of colours,
wallets, rucksacks and caps. So that should be all very cool!
One thing that almost but didn’t quite get off the ground is OGC Outdoor, but I assure you we’ll be off
soon enough, its just hard to find a weekend spare at the moment but I look forward to it, and those
interested don’t lose the enthusiasm, it should be a rewarding new branch of OGC activities. On
another drab note the Video games Tournament didn’t quite go to plan in December but it was still
okay (though Luke was down £80) and the Wizard’s site given the wrong address for the Guild pact
release was summarily ridiculous. Hmmm, nothing good comes without something bad though.
I’m sure I have more to say but don’t quite remember, so in all keep gaming, stay in touch on the web
board and I’ll see you around some time!

Member of the Month: Charly has took to his Senior tasks by playing in a horde of games, appearing
everywhere including painting up at Brown’s until the late hours and helped sort the Merchandise order. Nice job!
Highlight of the Month: 40k gaining 2 new players as well as pulling everyone together again
