Captains Log - 290506
Seven is the number of the moment, why? Because July
marks seven whole years of OGC, that’s almost half my
life! It’s a great thing to say OGC has existed for so long
and is stronger than ever, the efforts of people across to
country to push forth OGC is an awesome sight to see, I’m
looking forward to seeing where OGC stands once we
reach our decade anniversary – that will come replete with
a mass party!
That aside, its Tournament time again, the draw
is in just over 2 weeks! The fear, the terror, the desire to
actually win something this year. The Tournament is still
OGC’s premiere event and brings people together in an
exciting few weeks of sweat, brain overload and alcohol.
Plus theirs the paintball, the ace-ness of viewing peoples painting talents, and of course that OGCamp trip to
Amsterdam. On that note, if it’s a success, I’m hoping that every year OGCamp will visit a new place in the
world, and we’ll camp there for a few days and have a laugh. This ones special though, its my 21st! Oh dear…
Last Few months have been pretty decent on the OGC front, we’ve had the first ever formal AGM,
which had a good turn out. James Brown’s 40k event in Liverpool was a laugh, especially for the horror of
Luke’s idiocy with regards to locking us out, is there no low he can’t sink to? Nah that was harsh, he’s taken the
liberty of giving me some bar work, yes Luke, my manager, I’m a University graduate, trained soldier and first
aider etc and I’m nothing but a lackey, yes the world really sucks.
My trip to China back in March/April was certainly interesting, and presented a decent OGC PR
moment as I bore the name of OGC at the Great Wall (pictured). I also picked up a magazine in Beijing that
covered the rise of Magic: the Gathering in China. I’ll have to scan it sometime so you can read it.
So anyway, the next step is the Tournament, it’s going to be a nightmare to run, harder than ever I
expect, but it’s the most important event we have so its time for a mammoth effort! I have much more to say, but
I’ve tested your patience enough, enjoy the excitement around the coming draw – June 17th, it’s going to throw
up some big surprises!

Member of the Month: James Fawsett Relatively new to OGC, young James has shown a passion for the
organization that’s certainly commendable, and has thrust himself to the forefront of Magic in OGC
Highlight of the Month: James Brown’s 40k event, excellent to see people setting up fully functional multi-day
events, takes the load of me and gives everyone more opportunities to enjoy what OGC’s all about!
