Captains Log - 020906
It’s been some time since my last Captain’s entry,
mostly because of all the events that have taken place
over the last few months! The Tournament was a big
success, James brown being becoming the second
person to ever win the 40k Tournament more than once
and 2 years in a row. Adam May also failed to podium
as Simon Gray made third place for the first time. I also
managed to win the other two Tournaments for the first
time…..which makes me the first OGC member to win
every Tournament :D On another note, only myself,
Simon Gray and James Brown have ‘podiumed’ in
every major Tournament (being 40k, magic &
Warhammer). There’s a slice of useless trivia! In fact
they’ve all been on the paiting podium as well at some
point!!! On that note Charly’s excellent Chaos Warrior
won this year. Now, 40k was a pretty awesome Tournament, the magic 8 number finally being realised, and
we even had excess applicants which means its qualifying next year! 40k just keeps on building!  The
Warhammer Tournament on the other hand was a bit of a sham, the generally poor rules system led to a
semi-final boycott by James brown and some highly uncompetitive games, in 3rd was Magic heavy Tim
with High Elves, 2nd was shooting heavy Skaven with Andrew Townley and myself in 1st with the
combination with the Empire, I think that really shows the problems Warhammer has, still it did take a bit
of effort to win it! Magic was a lot of fun, and very tough to win, (I’ll publish my deck list in my next
Captain’s Log…I’m writing this in Ormskirk and I don’t have it with me)…I think everyone enjoyed it and
after alls Luke’s talking he came second to last. On a note Luke has come the equivalent of last place in
every major Tournament! More Trivia!
We also had a couple of Outdoor events. Paintball was a little disappointing, 6 definites became
drop-outs meaning I lost money
and also it was over-packed and full of idiots meaning that it was even
fun…you know what I’m talking about – people getting shot 10 times and still not going out then shooting
the Marshall’s who are powerless to do anything. On the other hand OGCamp to Amsterdam was a big
success. Staying in log cabins in the Nederlands five of us went out and enjoyed what the Dutch capital has
to offer….nothing crude mind but we did play Mario so to speak. Luke also paid but never came due to
deciding he would apply for his passport a few days before we were due to fly out :s
At the moment were currently setting up OGC nationally and now have regular meeting in
Liverpool and Ormskirk, which is excellent news! I’m also heading up to Leeds with Charly in a bit to
check out what’s going on up there, it means we’ve got OGC in Merseyside, Lancashire and Yorkshire, and
still Games Workshop won’t acknowledge us. Hmmmm, well it’s all looking up for OGC so see you
around in the next few months, we’ve got events lined up in everything and everywhere so get involved!!!
